Ikigai (ee-key-guy) is a combination of the Japanese words “iki” (生き), meaning “life,” and “gai” (甲斐), which is used to describe value. Ikigai is a person's reason for being. It describes passion and purpose - it is the thing that makes life worthwhile.
Inspired by Izakaya culture (post-work informal drinks with snacks), Ikigai at 1000 Trades brings a niche experience to the Birmingham Independent bar scene, with an array of Japanese spirits, flavourful cocktails and speciality sake.
Sake (sah-keh) is a traditional Japanese spirit brewed from rice. There are so many varied types of Sake and it can be daunting trying something new.
Each month there will be a different bottle available to try at cost - Let us help you navigate the intriguing world of Sake without breaking the bank!
On the first Sunday of every month, join us for Soul Sunday! For £10 per person enjoy a bottle of Japanese lager and a surprise Japanese soul bowl, accompanied by a mix of funk and soul music.
